Terms of use
What you get, what it costs and what we ask of you — in plain words.
Last updated 2026-10-14
The short version
besteed is free for your whole household: the household, the people in it, the calendar, the tasks and the shopping list cost nothing. There is one paid plan, Home, for the paperwork and the money, bought through Google Play or the App Store and cancellable there at any time. What you put in is yours, it is encrypted before it leaves your phone, and you can delete your account whenever you like.
By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use besteed.

What besteed is
An app for the people who share a home: a shared calendar and tasks, the shopping list, the month's money, contracts, warranties and documents. It runs on your phone and in the browser, and it syncs between the phones of your household through our server.
We are a small team and the app keeps changing. Features may be added, changed or removed. If a change takes something away that you pay for, we will tell you before it happens.
Your account
You sign in with a Google or Apple account. Accounts are for adults; a household can hold records for children and pets, and whoever manages the household is responsible for what is written about them.
Your account is yours: do not hand it to anyone else. If you think someone else has used it, write to us.
The free plan and Casa
The free plan holds a whole household — up to twelve people, one home — and limits the paperwork: how many contracts and documents stay active and how far back the money history goes. The limits are shown in the app and may change; if they change, what you already stored is not deleted.
Casa is the plan for the paperwork: all your contracts and documents, the whole money history, a second home and backups. It costs 4.99 € a month or 39.99 € a year, taxes included where they apply. Prices in your store may differ slightly by country and currency; the store shows the final price before you confirm.
Casa belongs to the household, not to a person: one subscription covers everyone in it. If two people in the same household subscribe, write to us and we will sort out the duplicate.
Paying, renewing, cancelling
Casa is bought and billed through Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card or your payment details; they stay with the store.
The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, monthly or yearly, until you cancel it. You cancel in the store's subscription settings — not in the app, and not by deleting the app — and it stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Nothing is refunded for the remaining days; refunds follow the store's own rules and you request them from the store.
If a renewal fails and the store cannot collect the payment, Casa lapses. Nothing is deleted: your household keeps everything it stored, but what goes beyond the free plan stays put until Casa is active again.
If we change the price, the store tells you first and asks you to agree before the new price applies.
What is yours
Everything you and your household write, attach or import is yours. We claim no rights over it, we do not sell it and we cannot read it: it is encrypted on your phone with keys we do not have. The privacy policy explains exactly what we store.
That protection has a consequence: if you lose your phone and have no backup, or forget the passphrase of your backup, we cannot recover your data. Nobody can. Keep the cloud backup on and the passphrase somewhere safe.
You are responsible for what you put in. Do not store or share through besteed anything that is illegal, that belongs to someone else without their permission, or that harms other people.
Location, and children
Sharing your location in besteed is optional and off by default. Adults and guests turn it on and off themselves. Teenagers and children do not have that switch: they share only when an adult of the household gives them the permission, and their app shows a banner that cannot be hidden, so nobody is ever located without knowing it.
If you turn on a minor’s location, you do so under your own responsibility, and you must be their parent or guardian, or have the consent of whoever is. In Spain, consent from a parent or guardian is required below the age of 14. You can withdraw it at any time by removing the permission. What the app does with the location itself is in the privacy policy.
What we ask of you
Use besteed for what it is made for: your own home. Do not try to break into the service, overload it, work around the plan limits, or use it to send unwanted messages. Do not copy the app or offer it as yours.
If someone does these things, we may suspend or close the account. We will say why.
What we cannot promise
We do our best to keep besteed running and your data safe, and the security page describes how. But we cannot promise that the service will never be interrupted or never have a bug, and besteed is not a substitute for keeping your own copies of important documents.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses — a missed appointment, a contract that renewed, a warranty that expired. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, and nothing limits liability for fraud or for damage caused intentionally.
Ending things
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Your data on our server is deleted with it. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in the store, before or after.
We may close the service one day. If we do, we will tell you months ahead and make sure you can take your data with you.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. The date at the top says when they were last updated. Keeping on using besteed after that date means you accept the new version.
Which law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and any dispute can be brought before the courts of where you live.
